glad to have words of yours
sorry for pains
skycrossing birds of yours
needn't be cranes

freshly perplexed by a
new ambiguity
didn't perceive it could
wreak continuity

Happens to me when I think of my first boyfriend.. and then, almost immediately all the good things about the present come back to me.. and the old wound is buried again.. It's best to let go of some things..

Scars are paraded

in mutual one-upmanship
Mine hurt more than yours!

in imagined comraderie
"I got hurt too!"

as emotional bait
"Kissy kissy where it hurts, please"

and sometimes, surprisingly
we discover they still hurt.

wounds heal but scars remain
till some things notch at the memory strings
and all one remembers is the pain.
